FRAGMENTS OF UNBECOMING? I feel somehow acquainted with this name... yes, they had been on the latest "Best Of Unsigned" samplers from "Rock Hard" and "Heavy, Oder Was?!", where they also stood out because Death Metal had been sparely placed there. But also the quality of FRAGMENTS OF UNBECOMING is convincing. Otherwise a cult label like Metal Blade didn't take attention of them. They instantly signed the Germans and now here it is, the result titled as "Skywards - A Sylphe's Ascension". It's absolutely worthy what they offer on their debut album (formerly, there had been a mini album titled "Bloodred Tales/Chapter I - The Crimson Season"). This Melodic Death sounds pretty Swedish but has enough edge to stand out of the litter of the Swedish ones. Slightly complex, detailed pieces ruling this. No Progressive stuff but it needs some spins to find its way into your ear. But then, you will be convinced! I'm also convinced and have to congratulate Metal Blade once again for this excellent catch in the sea of all newcomers. It's nice, that there is also again a homey act! Due to their inventiveness, this record should also be still interesting in a couple of years!
